Corralling in the Kitchen

Since Hubster and I decided to purchase the house we currently live in, we have started to organise ourselves and are trying to sort things so they are just the way we want them. One catalyst for all this organisation is the fact that we are getting the carpets replaced. As we are already living in the house, this means moving ALL of the furniture out of the house while the old carpets are pulled up and the new ones installed. Phew, the thought of this literally makes my blood run cold so we have decided to start early and get things ship shape so we aren’t moving junk out and then back in at the time.

The first stop for us is the Kitchen. We’ve already installed this handy dandy kitchen shelf.

After

Today we started on corralling all the junk we had attached to the fridge. Unfortunately I didn’t take a before photo (I swear my brain is like goo at the moment) but rest assured it was a state. Photos, menus, recipes, other assorted papers stuck all over it. So much so that we could no longer see the awesome magnets we were given as wedding presents and those that we have collected on our travels.

Chic enough to make you shutter

As mentioned previously I’ve recently acquired a pair of shutters.

Ohhh the crafting posibilities

After much ummm-ing and ahhh-ing over what the heck to do with them I finally made up my mind. Distress them of course!

Where have you been all my life?

For as long as i can remember, I have wanted a secretary desk with a fold down desktop surface. When I worked in an office job I would spend many a lunch hour in furniture shops ooh-ing and ahh-ing over desks that I could not afford.     DSC00219

La-la-la-lola

Recently a friend of mine did some research and gave me some advice on starting a small business. To thank her I wanted to make her something cute yet practical that wouldn’t take a lot of time…. Enter LOLA.

Still Running

I’ve finally finished the table runner. What a learning curve that was!! I really enjoyed embroidery though, there was something relaxing and gratifying about… almost like knitting, just completed much more quickly!

The vest idea ever

So it is a clear indication that my sewing-mojo is returning when I have the urge to sew and create something “off pattern”.
